If you don't know, GM is having some troubles lately. It would seem to the point of pulling ads out of a newspaper because the editorials are calling for their heads as far as being a valuable company.
So what is their plane, in particular with Buick and Pontiac?
Businessweek Auto: GM's New Order
Well, it would seem that both brands will get a reduction in how many cars they will have and their will be a channel combining of which will align GMC, Buick and Pontiac in the same dealerships. Get this; no crossing of product lines! In other words, their won't be a minivan for Buick and Pontiac.
There is something called the A3 platform and Pontiac has a slice of that new car platform that was shown in auto shows. Its a small frame car 2 door coupe the Solstice.

I am not sure if the plan will work but it looks promising. I like Pontiac ever since the Trans-Am and Firebird. Maybe they will put the thunder back into Pontiac as far as youth buyers (the Solstice costs 20,000) and muscle car owners. As far as Buick... I am not sure. Buick was one of those brands I see as dead, but I saw a new LaCross... a name they had to change for Canadian dealerships because LaCross means something to do with sexual activity... actually looks good. maybe they will go upscale with it, but considering they will not cross product lines, this means that it might just end up being the full size car.
Someone thinks the plan won't work:
