Today Was A Fairytale
Album: Valentine Day’s sdtk
Year: 2010
Taylor Swift falls in love at first sight in the dearest “Today Was A Fairytale.”
A cute guitar opens the single, setting an appealing tone. It turned into a special Saturday evening. In her white, long sheath and a pearls, he couldn’t take her his eyes off her. He took her hand into hers and said into her ear that she looked amazing. She wanted to look perfect. He had last seen her sick, her hair a rumpled nest and face as pale as her nails. (“Today was a fairytale/You were the prince/I used to be a damsel in distress/You took me by the hand and you picked me up at six/Today was a fairytale/Today was a fairytale/Today was a fairytale/I wore a dress/You wore a dark grey t-shirt/You told me I was pretty/When I looked like a mess/Today was a fairytale.”)
In the pre-chorus, her scheduled life of studying, ballet class and babysitting the neighbors take much of her time. With him, the hectic and noise subsides. She can just relax. (“Time slows down/Whenever you're around.”)
In the chorus, the kiss was thrilling. He cupped her chin, gave her an intense look and let his lips grace hers. After tonight, he’s no longer her crush. He’s the love of her life. (“Can you feel this magic in the air?/It must have been the way you kissed me/Fell in love when I saw you standing there/It must have been the way/Today was a fairytale.”)
He makes her feel safe and that she can tell him what’s on her mind. His smile electrifies her and makes her feel awesome. (“It must have been the way/Today was a fairytale/Today was a fairytale/You've got a smile that takes me to another planet/Every move you make everything you say is right/Today was a fairytale/Today was a fairytale/All that I can say/Is now it's getting so much clearer/Nothing made sense until the time I saw your face/Today was a fairytale.”)
The pre-chorus is sung again.
The second chorus is sung. (“But can you feel this magic in the air?/It must have been the way you kissed me/Fell in love when I saw you standing there/
It must have been the way/Today was a fairytale/It must have been the way/Today was a fairytale.”)
In the bridge, she can’t believe she’s feeling what she saw in movies. (“Time slows down/Whenever you're around/I can feel my heart/It's beating in my chest/Did you feel it?/ can't put this down.”)
A third chorus is sung. (“But can you feel this magic in the air?/It must have been the way you kissed me/Fell in love when I saw you standing there/It must have been the way.”)
The second chorus is sung again.
In the final section, she comments it was a beautiful day. (“Today was a fairytale.”)
Swift, innocent and full of hope, can’t stop smiling. Her boyfriend is The One. Most people her age do not get this lucky. But there’s no usual teenage drama. He’s her best friend and already knows her so well. She can’t wait to spend forever with him.
The basic “Today Was A Fairytale” has Swift in a holding pattern, a release to tide fans over until the real singles from her album comes out.
