Early this morning the US Special Forces acting on a tipoff launched an attack on a villa near Abbotsbad, a town 150 kilometers from the capital. The US attack was successful and without the loss of life the master mind on 9/11 was killed. It would have been foolish to take him prisoner as that would have encouraged hostages situations. So he was killed and no one can fault the US forces for this successful attack. I must say that there will be a sense of closure for a national trauma and my thoughts go out to those who lost their loved ones on that day in September2001.

The death of Osama bin Laden will certainly weaken the al-qaeda network and I am sure the Special Forces will continue the hunmt for other key elements. Unexpectedly this victory has given Obama's presidential relection bid a big boost and I ma sure he will cash in for what it is worth.

The situation in Pakistan will deteriorate and it may be time to call the Army out to lead. The Zardar Government has helped the US to carry out drone attacks and men like Raymond Davis on whom I have written are really the unsung heroes. But for such men thsi operation wopuld not have been a success.

I was going to watch the news last night, but the hoopla and theatrics (and Geraldo of course) I just couldn’t so I took out a good book and read instead. I shed no tears over his death … but there sure are many questions in my mind. Americans being what they have become, seem to forget how we got to our stated objectives and the path of death we left in our quest for what … revenge? Obama said "The death of bin Laden marks the most significant achievement to date against al-Qaeda.” … guess Iraq was just for target practice.

As far as weakening al-Qaeda is concerned, I think not. He has been out of the loop for many years (dead or in one of those places that don't exist). As a fictitious example, what would weaken us if our Mr. Doolittle parted company with his head … we wouldn’t skip a beat as Mr. Doolittle the 2nd would be hot on their trail and as is always the case … we will enact more legislation to hamper the American people under the guise of protecting them. Can I take an actual bottle of shampoo now and they are going to stop sticking their hands in my panties and … … … NO? … … … MORE?

The government’s idea of transparency just begs for answers which of course will not be provided.

To me, looking in from outside the US. I see the same behaviour that I seen from other certain countries when 911 happened (although media is propoganda,we only see what is presented/spun).

Concidering that bin ladin was the excuse/reason to go to afganistan to "get the people who did this" it would therefore be a logical conclution to start withdrawing from that place over the next few years.

BUT I think there is more to this than meets the eye.

How does anyone know when this event took place? Did it happen the other day or a few years ago and the infomation is being released now. (no conspiricy theory here just an thought) The details are a tad blurry for good reason, perhaps to keep on "Protecting the American People" and to ensure the funding for the war on terror keeps on rolling in.

Personally I think this tossers death was a long time coming however the US media has stained the good people of the USA and when i seen a person on "the View" say that the day of this guys death should become a public holiday I could not belive what I was hearing (sure the view is not a platform that should be taken seriously but some do) That statement right there puts the american people (stereotypically) in the same league as the man they hunted for ten years.

piers38 - You can try to keep the politics out of the picture but it doesn't seem to be allowed. Unfortunately, you are not supposed to even bring logic or reason into the discussion, oh my. Strange thing that in order to support the USG timeline for the past 11 years, one would have to believe everything they told us as the truth and even the neocons cannot make that claim. So how much can one believe and which parts can they force themselves to see as the truth. Personally, I think every word and action from the USG should be suspect from the get go. If they tell me the grass is green and the sky is blue … I will have to walk outside to verify it … that much distrust.

I do not know who was killed there nor do I know the circumstances or the time frame. I do not think we will ever know because it is completely under the control of the USG. I am still waiting on the story line that will eventually be the USG’s real story … it has been 3 days now … how about the final edition USG … before it snows please ... just a little common sense goes a very long way.
