With palms together,
Good Morning Everyone,
Do we see clearly
the star in the morning sky,
Or is it clouded
by a picture painted
in our mind's eye?
This coming weekend we will drive to the Refuge near Cloudcroft and sit quietly staring at our mind's eye. My hope is that our mind will slip away along with our other senses, and we will be free, clear, and present.
Some 2600 years ago a man dressed in rags sat under a tree. He was motivated by deep compassion, believing that with practice, he would discover the truth that would set him and all other beings free.
Like Jesus after him and the Hebrew patriarchs before him, he had spent vast time alone, away from what he knew, in order to draw close to the truth. All great heroes have left home to be transformed and return with a message of salvation and change. What is it about leaving home that is so essential to discovery?
Anyone who practices meditation over time will understand this. The essence of transformation is a willingness to let go. Its nothing special. What we return with, however, now that is a treasure.
Be well.
