Well, what exactly is it about the American judicial system that allows people to sue if the trip over a stair? or hurt their arm on a revolving door? please help me isolate it, so we can destroy it, and people can start taking responsibility for their own actions rather than playing the blame game!!!

I think that people are to damn lawsuit happy. You can get sued for looking at someone the wrong way. (They may feel threatened!)

I have no idea what you are talking about... All I know is that I personally dont need a warning on MY coffee, because I know it's hot, and I have spent the last 22 years of my life working on my hand eye co-ordination so I can consume said coffee into MY mouth...

There are no facts involved here to be ignorant to! Except I have a warning on my coffee and lighters, because it is automatically assumed all humans are stupid enough and un-coordinated enough to operate these objects etc.

I didn't mention this McDonalds case - but I will leave your comment in there, because as far as I am concerned, any one who spills coffee on themselves, and has the gall to blame someone else, is an imbecile.

I still am siding with Muggaz on this one, even though there are very good facts that support this woman's case against McDicks. Yes, it was too hot. But she was still an idiot for doing what she did. Anybody who drinks coffee should know that the possiblity of purchasing a cup of coffee that is more than lukewarm may burn you if you spill it. And by using just common sense, most would assume that any coffee-serving establishment would have to have it at a high enough temperature to make sure that it stays hot for a specific period of time.

It burnt the crap out of her? Yes. But if she had of been more careful in the first place, she wouldn't have recieved those kind of burns. This would be a completely different discussion if say the lid had not been placed on the cup properly on the coffee and while the employee handed it to her, it spilled. But no, this is how it happened: On February 27, 1992, Stella Liebeck, her son Jim and her grandson Chris Tiano left Santa Fe at dawn to drive to the Albuquerque airport to drop off Jim for an early flight. Stella, 79 years old but "quite spry," had just retired from a long career as a department store sales clerk. After leaving the airport, Stella and Chris, who was driving, stopped at a McDonald's drive-up window for breakfast. After they had received their food, Chris pulled over and parked the car so Stella could add some cream and sugar to her coffee. She looked for a place to set the coffee cup down, but there was no cup-holder in the Ford Probe and the dashboard was slanted. Since both hands were needed to remove the lid and add the cream and sugar, she placed the coffee cup between her knees to keep it secure while she removed the lid. While she was attempting to remove the lid, the coffee spilled into her lap.
She was just as responsible for taking the actions that she took, in my opinion.

Word to that Sally! I myself am a very clumsy imbecile. Once I ran down a damn hill, and then before I could catch my speed I tripped and rolled down the whole damn thing, cracked a bone...got a major scar thigh and hip. I guess it was a good thing though, I mean everyone needs a few scars too look tough. And Now finalyl have a scar story. I tell people I got those scars from a knife that a girl was using cause she was she wanted the last Krispy Creme donut that I was about to get, and that I b*tch slapped the whore and she got mad and used a knife to stab me too death. Pretty high fetched story, but it still makes me feel like I'm KICKASS! lol
