Yup, we did, thanks! We whisked right through Ohio in one day...it was all a blur from the back seat, but we spent that night somewhere on the western edge of Pennsylvania. Gosh OH & PA are gorgeous states. What a treat...it just got prettier & prettier the further east we went. Of course you were in my thoughts as we zoomed through your state, and Dharma was in my thoughts during the 5 days we spent at Scott! (It was sometime during the 1st-2nd weeks of May.) I kept one eye open for Dharma when we went to the BX a couple times. It would have been surreal to bump into her I remember she said her mum was in town at that time...and of course I'm shy too. I did have my baby's Pink Panther outfit ready for Dharma to see just in case, (it was a gift she sent. Ooh so cute.)

We'll move in on Friday. We chose what we thought was the best (or least disgusting) of the homes they had available here on post. It's an end unit of a six or eight plex (I don't care to count). It's got a brand new refrigerator & oven, so, meh, it looked better to us than some of the other things we'd seen. Half the homes here are brand new & gorgeous, but of course they don't have any of those available. The big quandry now is what the heck we're going to do with all of our stuff that won't fit into this tiny home. Our sofa won't even fit in the living room, there's no place for an office (we'll have to use a closet!!!), no place to put the kids' play area. So how about a YARD SALE or FREE-FOR-ALL AT OUR PLACE!!!

I am envious that your husband is there for your little girl's first year.

I feel for you Tex. One part of me despises the military for taking our husbands away for any length of time, while I can still find it in me to understand that men are hunters, gatherers, providers, and warriors and are supposed to be away a lot. But how fortunate we are nowadays to be compensated so handsomely for the sacrifice we & our husbands make. It's a gratitude / resentment thing I feel. I have cried over this a bit. I feel for you, I know it hurts. Gosh Adrian is going to be making up for all the hugs & kisses he's been missing. Watch out for it!

From what you've shared I can see that your home is gorgeous. You've really got it together. And of course I get the impression that your hubby is a LOT higher ranking than mine, heh. So your options are pretty wide open.

As far as our domicile adventures, we're learning by trial and error. At our first base we were put in a 50+ year old home and I was greeted by a huge spider hanging in the doorway and a rotting carcass of some sort buried right outside our front door. I never did have the stomach to dig it up and remove it, but it sure attracted flies.

Then in Germany it didn't even occur to me that we had the option to live off base (my husband didn't clue me in because he wanted to live near work).

So when we got to Minot, I was excited that we could opt to live off base, and we did -- but that turned out to be an awful experience. We just can't win. But we're still trying.

I'm just so sick of moving. I made an emergency phone call to Army Family Services today because I was having an emotional breakdown over this PCS. (I beat up my husband twice today.) Of course I knew no one would be in the office on Memorial Day, but I'm looking forward to getting a call back from AFS tomorrow. Then I can dump on a real person. And maybe someone will help me unpack all our junk while I tend to two needy children...and find a new therapist in this new town...AAAGGGGHHHH!
