Well, if your a parent its a different concern, you gotta have a big chat. So then they dont go on it. Well at my school theres this filter called Bess. So yeah.

There is a list of files by that name/type in my system32 folder. I don't think it's really a problem after the discussion I had with him. At least if he still is looking at anything it's nothing more harmful than the occasional frontal shot. He's mostly a good kid so I don't foresee any problems. But I will keep these useful tips in mind if it does get outta hand tho.

Actually in the /etc folder (per definition) there's only one file called "hosts", having no file-extensions.

Umm... If you go to a differnet port, (which mst serers have, you can get around Bess very easily. I made a Flash MX thig that my schol didn't like, there wasn't anything bad, except for a couplle dozen raccoons eatig a stick guy (poor quality). My Nerd frends got me to it by typing some port # or another. It wasn't hard. Also, there was this 9oogle.tk thig that put a frame on the page, so you could go anywhere.

My father was a network administrator at Ft.Hood, TX before he passed away, and he told me porn was the biggest problem there too. Strange, eh? I hope you figure out a way to stay a step ahead of your young uns, because Lord knows they can be some devious little buggers.

Yeah... Most of the time I think they do it just to spite me. I love them to death, but sometimes I wanna make that literal lmao. But nooo... They way I look at it now, is if he's using his skills to "outdo" me then hopefully he'll do so in the future as well! (more positivly that is)

Yeah, I tried to change it to the same thing I have it set here at WinCustomize... But I haven't found how to yet. I like "Palace of Hazylunarrain" much better.

If you want to block search engines, you might as well disallow the internet, period.

Only blocking certain sites is NOT effective punishment -- it's a stopgap until he finds a new way around your measures, at which point he will be MORE reinforced for subverting you.

If you actually want to stop the behavior, don't let him use the internet for a month or two. Keep monitoring him when his punishment's over. Reinforce him whenever he uses his time --- internet and otherwise --- constructively.

And most importantly, figure out the weakness in your parenting that made porn seem like a worthwhile risk to him. Tell him what it was. Explain to him the real reasons why he shouldn't be looking at porn. ("Because I say so" is NOT good enough. You need to be building credibility, not depleting it further.)

Come to a calm, honest, loving agreement with him about his internet usage. If he breaks that, you've got WAY bigger problems than internet porn.

HEY! don't diss porn... some of its pretty good. as a kid (13 years old) I can say that us kids look at porn, because to us it is the best thing in the world (at our age, if we see it in real life, then, well...) so, if ur kid has seen it, let him see it, brag about it, and itl just die out, rather than restrict him. if you restrict him, he will just try harder to 'thwart' you and look and it, and ull over-emphazize the entire thing. know what im saying?

the best thing... (its working on me right now, im embarrassed as hell about it, oh well) catch him in the act, when hes "doing something" with the porn (masturbating) and threaten to tell everybody. in time, tell as many people as possible, and rub it in. (it works.)

If he is 14 years old, nothing except casturation will stop him from being a horny teenager. You can't police everything he does. Take away the internet , he will find other means of exploring his new hormones at work. There was no internet when I was 14 but I still found ways of seeing boobies.

Lol, I guess you guys are right... I don't think he's doing it anymore. I guess if he really wants to he will. BUT, I talked with him and he said he won't do it anymore. So (knowing Cameron) I don' think he will. The more I think about it though, I would much rather him looking at pictures on the screen than having sex. When I weigh the two together it's kinda obvious which to choose. On reflection I think about how it was when I was a kid, and how controlling and repressive my parents were most of the time. And I saw myself doing the same thing. So... He's not the ONLY one who learned a lesson from all this. All in all... I don't WANT him to look at porn... Sooooo, why not make sure he knows what he's supposed to know about sex instead of finding out what he can, when he can from people who may not be teaching him things he should know? I don't think he has any questions left . Hopefully he will make the right decisions when the time comes. But at least I know he knows the risks, etc.

The real problem is not about your son looking at porn, but that he uses your household computer and your internet connection with your name on the ISP account to do it. Other methods of looking at porn, like reading Penthouse magazine etc. are probably a better substitute, since teenage boys will find porn wherever they can. It's forbidden fruit and only natural that they'll crave it.
On the issue of Internet browsing, not only will the problem of his visiting sites load your computer up with ActiveX controls,cookies, pictures, and various spyware. But it will bog down your internet connection, CPU, and harddrive with more junk and potentially open your computer up to a Trojan horse attack. Your arguement on this hazardous situation with your son should really be focused on the potential for identity theft, data loss, or corruption of your household computer. These reasons are enough for me to have him comply, or lose access to the computer/internet. Talking to your son about sex is all you can really do, and it sounds like you have already had that talk. Curiosity about female bodies is natural to most men, and he is learning how to do it right...LOL. You say he undestands and won't do it anymore, but warn him of the consequences of browsing the Internet for porn, and buy him a couple of girlie magazines if he really wants to see body parts. I hope it all works out for you.

I'm sure he would love to have a few magazines! But you make a good point, I never thought of that stuff. Hell, I have come in here and even seen a new dial up connection to who the hell knows what in some other country! I'm pretty sure I don't have an ISP in Malaysia or what the crap ever! Anyhow, he very rarely messes with the com,puter now, and then mostly for cheats for his x-box. He knows someone has to be there, and just to be sure I have passwords on here to make Ft. Knox cry

the best way is to live like that UNABOMBER dude..up on the hill and away from all the technology...as my HIPPY uncle always tell me...(not hippy from skinplant)advancement is always coupled with disadvantage..its always depend on how were gonna use it..positively or negatively...or something like that..cuz after that he would always laugh at the ants where his nachos are, after he blew them with a smoke from his filterless dobbie...just like me. i think im way out of what is being discuss
