benmanns, from the tiny amount that I have seen and read regarding the issue, the ONLY licences that can get the LONG TERM service branch are the ENTERPRISE licences, all other licenses are either the 'get it NOW and suffer the problems'(home) or the 'get it within 8 months or LOSE the licence'(pro) branches

i seriously don't understand what the hang up is about 8 months. if a machine has been sitting on the shelf for 8 months.. then when someone buys it and turn it on.. one would imagine it'll have a load of old updates autoinstalled as soon as it connects to the net. to bring it up to speed in stages... before dumping yet another load of updates after that. sort of like you have to install sp1 before sp2, etc, except it'll be automatically done if it hasn't been manually done before the date is up.

unless it stays offline totally.. in which case it's moot.

far more concerning than forced updates. wonder if anyone dug through and compared the eula between the beta and retail.. especially the keylogging bits.

Well I reserved my "free copy" of W10, I hope I have the choice of installing it when I want too. It certainly saeems like a wise course of action to wait and see for now.

I couldn't get the invite for some reason. (Yes I meet all the requirements, and have the necessary updates).
