We constantly hear that the Christian god is oh-so powerful, almighty, omnipotent and so on... So let's put it to the test.
Would a God have the need to get angry? If I had the powers of the Christian God, I would not have to feel anger by anything. Why would I bother. Nothing can hurt me - not even Lucifer. So why waste time on an irrational emotion like anger?
Ever cared for someone, and watched them destroy themselves with drugs or other problems, every help you gave them rejected or worse, used to further themselves down the path to destruction? You would probably be sad, and angry, because you CARE. God cares. You are mistaken about how God feels about His people when you say nothing can hurt Him.
Would a God create end-of-the world dramas? No, of course not. Any God with that kind of power could just make humans disappear by the snap of the fingers. No need for big floods and environmental changes and whatnot.
There is a purpose to the end-of-the-world 'dramas' as you call it. God wants you, and people like you, to come to repentance and believe in Him. So he will do everything in His power to show you He exists. In fact, if He did NOT do so, that would not be just or holy of Him, so He WILL do it.
Then we have this dude called Jesus. some say he was the son of God. Some say he IS God. If he IS god, then it would be easy to just be eternal on the planet. A perfect God doesn't have to get himself killed and certainly not to "cleanse" all the sin from people. He could have done that b snapping his fingers, being so powerful. After all, if he really is the designer of this world, he can do with this world as he please and very easily. If he was the son of god, then why kill him? Why not make him eternal and just have him wipe out all the enemies with the snap of his fingers to non-existence?
What good is it to say God loves us if He never gave up anything for us? Is it really love? John 15:13 - "Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends." You are looking for a God who doesn't care, doesn't do anything, doesn't want to show His love, and that's not God. He COULD have wiped out his enemies, but He didn't because of mercy and love. So that I could come to salvation, so that you could as well.
Why have a hell? Why feel threatened by anything? Why would a God need to be feared by lesser subjects? Why would a God have the need to be worshiped in the first place???
God loves you so much, and gives you the free will to choose - you are allowed to be separate and not under his rule forever. There needs to be a place separate from him, in that case, and that place is Hell. The fear of God means more than being afraid - it means respecting and obeying. God created us TO worship Him. It's what we're made for. He doesn't NEED it, he WANTED it, and WANTED us. Not need.
These questions tell something about the Christian god being immensely flawed. The next question is then - why worship a flawed angry god, when there are gods in other religions that are kind, friendly and much more constructive in their approach?
Because those gods are not real, and the people who created them show that by stating unequivocably that there are rules and regulations to be followed before you can be saved - and often this salvation is to stop reincarnating. The problem is, there is no reincarnation, so if you screw up, there is no second chance. The half of these religions is to make you think it's okay to screw up, because you'll just get another chance, but there is no other chance. The other half of it is that you have to do certain things to be saved, and these are things you cannot do. When you believe in Jesus' death, burial, ressurection, and that he paid the price for your sins, which you know you have sinned, and you accept his sacrifice, you are saved. End of story. You don't have to go do something to be saved. You are commanded to be baptised and to take communion, but if you never do, still saved.
Why do people not question Christianity? Is is lack of intelligence in the people that join Christianity and worship a flawed malicious god? What is it?
It's because you ask flawed questions with a flawed understanding of who God is. I hope you are enlightened by these answers. I believe you have some preconceived notions of God not caring about you enough to be angry or saddened by your behavior. Israel chose pieces of wood and stone over God and worshipped them for hundreds of years before God finally got angry and handed them over the Babylonians. Hundreds of years. So your lifetime may not be long enough for him to be angry at you (he is slow to anger) but he will still be saddened by your rejection of His salvation.
