Forsaking Sins

A call to Repentance!!!

Proverbs 28:13 (NKJV)

"He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy."

It is not enough to confess our sins to God, we must also forsake the sinful behavior and mindset. I know this is hard. Sinful mindsets and completly forsaking our sins-not just confessing them and asking forforgiveness is hard. I think it starts with a daily process of renewing our mind and changing our way of thinking. I beleive God is patient and he does expect us to not only ask for forgivness of our sins but to also forsake/get rid of the sinful behavior.

AMEN! The call to repentance is clear throughout both the Old and New Testament..the Old and New Covenants.

Absolutely. Proverbs 28:13 contains two calls to action.

I beleive God is patient and he does expect us to not only ask for forgivness of our sins but to also forsake/get rid of the sinful behavior.

I believe this as well. Other passages in Scripture confirm it. To the woman caught in the act of adultery, Jesus commanded "...go, and sin no more." St.John 8: 11.
