I would like to see a shift in loyalties event. Treason in your political party causes it to collapse any forces you to pick a new political party.
I also like the space monster/megaship event.
A double agent event. All spies deployed in any other civ (including yours) defect to that civ.
A radical scientific breakthrough. A div that is far behind in tech all the sudden gains an entire tech tree or an isolated high level tech.
Revolution fever! 10% of all worlds defect from all civs defect to other random civs.
Abandonment: A random civilization evaculates the galaxy. All colonies are destroyed and all ships disappear, leaving a new colony rush for these worlds.
Find a usable precursor battleship!
Dreadlords appear with a battlefleet and transports and start an invasion. Must conquer a worlds instead of being given one.
A mercinary fleet appears and offers to sell their services to the highest bidder!
Great bank robery: Your entire treasury is stolen by another civ.
Fleet defection: an entire fleet defects from one civ to another.
Robotic invasion fleet: A number of armed transports equal to 10-50% of inhabited worlds appear singlely throught the galaxy and attack the nearest world. If the transports are not destroyed or the invasions are not defeated, the world is held by the forces until someone invades the world and kicks out the robots. (no social construction or diplomatics. population increases or not at your descretion.)
Robotic invasion II: Same as above but they do gain population and begin building armed transports and factories (nothing else and converting all improvements to factories.) Armed transports are sent to the nearest unconquered world.
Plague II: One colony world is destroyed in your civ every for weeks until plague cure is researched. Destroyed colonies may be colonized again but all improvements are gone (had to be destroyed to prevent recontaminition.)
Zeitgeist: One of your civilization bonuses is exchanged for another random one permanently.
Virus attack: All research in your civ is cut by 10-50% for 10-100 turns
Massive strikes: All production is cut by 10-50% for 10-100 turns.
That is all I can think of at the moment. I'll write if I think of more.
