Monday, March 13th...
God I can't wait. Ogre, Wookie and I are going to finally take a well-deserved vacation. I don't really think I need to say it but... it's been a hell of a year for me and as such I think my friends and I deserve a little fun. So, it was decided that for spring break (well, at least for me and Ogre... Wookie is kind of just... there) that we should go to Chicago. I know, I know. Spring Break is supposed to be sun and sand and surf and all of these things... that I just can't afford. Chicago is close and it's more affordable... not to mention we're going to be in downtown Chicago for St. Patrick's Day. Oh yeah. We're going to get drunk. A lot. But, there's more to it than just that. Tonight Ogre and I came up with an intenerary seeing as Wookie couldn't be bothered to show up (sorry folks.. just a little bit bitter.. more on that later perhaps). It's going to be a total blast and I can't wait. Here's the details -
Monday -
Wake up butt ass early and drive to Chicago
Before hotel check in - Visit the First McDonalds, which was turned into a museum. Do unspeakably rude things while there. Bust hate nuts in the restrooms. Yes, we're bitter McDrones thank you.
Hard Rock Cafe for dinner/lunch/whatever meal it is when we get there
Navy Pier
Go back to the hotel, unpack, unwind and drink beer
Tuesday -
Museum of Science and Industry and their spanky new Game 2.0 exhibit. Yeah, Ogre and I were drooling over this exhibit... a lot... We're muchly excited about this one.
Hancock Observatory
semi-calm homework night back at the hotel (seeing as Ogre and I will both have homework to do while on vacation... which totally blows in case you were wondering) and drink a lot of beer
Wednesday -
The Field Museum
The Medieval Times Geek-out (Yeah, we're pretty excited about this one too. Ogre and I spent an hour at least drooling over the website, secure in our knowledge that our reservations are made and we're so there Wednesday night.)
Return to the hotel for much reliving of Medieval Times, watching the complimentary DVD given out for the "Royalty" upgrade and drinking of lots more beer.
Thursday -
Shedd Aquarium (Seriously folks, if I don't see a dolphin I might just cry.)
Art Institute of Chicago
more random stuff, but we have no idea what as of yet
return to hotel room for more drinking of beer and packing up
Friday -
Check out of suburban hotel
Go on a General Expotition (had to borrow from Pooh there) - make sure to wear neutral gang colors
Check into not quite as nice but in the heart of downtown hotel - adjacent to many many bars
Potentially go to Adler Planetarium for an amazing show thing that got me and Ogre hooked from reading the description
Leave Adler and go bar-hopping in celebration of the fact that Ireland doesn't have snakes
Leave bars and find our hotel again hopefully
Saturday -
Come back home
This is going to be an amazing trip. I will be posting blog entries about the cool stuff that we do/see as well as posting up pictures and stuff. I can't wait... only three more boring days to get through.. yay!!!
