Just doling out money will not solve anything. I see poor people in the grocery store all the time buying Doritos and Pepsi with their food stamps. Why am I paying for that? I don't know them. I don't care about them. Why the hell am I paying for their Pepsi?
I'm sorry if it sounds harsh but poor people are poor because of the choices they make.
I always wonder why people point at this, everytime anything about economy comes up. It is never, why am i spending 2.1 billion dollars in tax money to wallmart, Or another 1.5 billion in welfare to said companies employee's while they profiit 50+ billion a year. You never hear about the corn lobby that sucks trillions, or the gov contract companies like halliburtron, that profited billions in war..
It is always.. those damn poor people and their junk food. which is ironic, and very similar to the Why should i pay for something when someone has enough money to buy pot.. (aka drug test the welfare people) When, abuse is the real issue, and i mean the system, that corporations use to pad their bottom line. The other side is somsone that goes out and buys nice clothing, and could be abusing the system that passes a drug test, but the person that smoked a joint could lose it, and most often it is the kids that suffer, not the parent.
But to say people are poor because of choices just shows you really don't understand the issue that poor people have gone through, or the issues of the lower social economic class. When over 60% of the jobs that are out their are under 20k a year.. just were exactly are these people going to go to make higher wages?
The economy is called bad now, because the middle class are becoming poor, something that over 60% of the country has been for as long as the country has been around. often the number is way higher than 60% too. It is just when the middle class is happy, who cares if that empolyee that is giving you your burger, or mops your floors, or pumps your gas of what ever has no money, it is their fault for being poor right??
No one ever gives a crap what those peoples lives are like, living as indentured servants, never able to get out from the thumb of someone else. Often is is because of lack of education, or even intelligence level. The person with a 70 IQ, could be the best janitor to ever live, but our society deems that job lowly, and deserves a wage that is beneath most, and on top of it, act as if they are doing that person a favor. While that person goes to work, 40-50 hours a week, every day for 40-50 years, and a pepsi is most likely the only luxury they can ever afford. And to top it off people look down on you for living that way.
over 90% of the people on foodstamps/welfare/aid either have jobs, or are children.. everyone want's you to think that they are all lazy users, but the facts are they are not.
here is a thought, how about take away the 10+ trillion a year in corporate welfare, and then see how fast the dept get's paid, but come on, you really think the rich running this world would ever do that? Maybe if people voted for someone outside of the two parties something might get done... but more likely the Sheep will be lead to the slaughter...
