Firefox 7.0, contained a bug that hid some or even all user ‘add-on’s from those who updated a prior version of the browser to the latest stable one.
After noticing the problem, Mozilla stopped the distribution of automatic updates to users running the stable version of the browser on their computer.
Firefox 7.01, the update that fixed the hidden add-on issue is now available for all users. It can be downloaded from the official website or via the web browser’s internal updating.
To do that you have to click on Firefox > Help > About Firefox to trigger the check for a new version of the Internet browser.
The Firefox 7.01 release fixes only this single issue.
How did this happen? Well, these folks are working hard and really fast on the browser and it probably escaped their attention. Still, if this happened, what else has probably been overlooked?
Might pay to slow down a bit and have a fuller “preflight checklist” to review before loading the passengers and heading down the runway.
Once is a “meh”. If it happens more often could damage their excellent reputation.
We’ll see, and as usual, I’ll try to keep you posted.
