I have a nook and just got a tablet on company expense (score!) If my thoughts were expressed earlier by others, I apologize, but they are truly my own thoughts as I have not been trolling the threads.
I was never an English major, much less a connoisseur of language. However, I have noticed in the digital medium a huge lack of quality control. Obviously, no one proofreads what scanners translate and at times it changes the entire thought of the sentence! If we cannot trust those who are suppose to protect the literature and thoughts of the past, what do we have? Shakespeare making "Twilight" novelettes? Twain writing "The Hangover"? I don't back any religion, but what kind of effect can that have when you change just a few words of holy text?
Where is the QA in literature? Where is the furor of it not being there? I don't care if you agree or disagree with the words, but not preserving those words changes the discussion entirely. There should be outrage, like my humble post, over the lack of care of the words of the writer.
