Elemental could literally not be made for a console without drastically changing its design.
The fact is, there is just too much stuff to fit into the limitations of a console. The reason why games are "dumbed down" for consoles is because consoles are weak. They're basically 5 year old PCs with decent video cards.
I'm interested in making a strategy game that has a lot of depth to it and demonstrates what a game that has been made exclusively for the PC with an engine exclusively designed for the PC can do in 2010. It's not about eye candy. It's about making a better game.
You know better than me but I find it strange that clothmap elemental would not fit in PS3's 256MB memory + 256MB video memory.
How much memory does current beta, which has 3D dissabled, use?
Anyone trying to discover this with the task manager, please don't forget to add to it the memory used by a lightweight version of Windows capable of running Elemental War of Magic.
Non-dumbed down games were made for my old MSX which had 32 kilobytes of memory. Certainly the reason for the dumbing down of some/many console games is not technical limitations.
