Since the beginning of February I've been babysitting for a friend of mine's kids. We have only ever been able to play inside because the weather has been so cold. Well yesterday was the first day we got to go play outside because it was over 70 degrees! It was a lot of fun, but it was also pretty challenging.
It is so much easier to babysit kids when they are inside because they are enclosed in a space and can't go too far without you knowing exactly where they are. This is not the case when you are outside. There is so much room for them, and their toys, to roam. One of the girls wanted to bring her melissa and doug toys outside, but I was afraid she would lose them all. Luckily we made a compromise to just wear some of this while we played outside lol.
There is also the fact that the outdoors can be more dangerous for kids because there are animals and plants that might hurt them. For example, there was this crazy looking dog roaming around outside yesterday. I was helping one girl into the swing, and when I turned around I saw the other girl trying to play with the dog and cover it with one of her aden and anais blankets! I calmly asked her to run over to me and I instantly took both the girls inside to watch this and wait for the dog to leave. Scary stuff. Peace.
