My wife and I just got back from an all inclusive trip to Mexico. It was great, and even better, it was free! She had helped with a financial campaign for the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and because of how much she raised, was able to take me for free. The stay was short, only 4 days and 3 nights, but it was fantastic. The ocean is so healing. Just being out in the sunshine and feeling the warm, ocean breeze is enough to keep you going for a while.
We flew Delta down, which was strange for me because I think it was the first time I'd ever flown Delta not as a non rev passenger. My Dad was a pilot, so we flew standby and had to adhere to a dress code when we flew. I took full advantage of not having to do that this time and wore these on the plane. I could sleep in my comfy clothes and was able to put on wear flip flops when we stepped off the plane.
Every time we go on a vacation like that, my wife and I think of buying property and living in a tropical location. You can get a house and land for much cheaper than new homes in Ohio and you can live a year or so in paradise. It's not that hard to just rent your house out and pay the bills. If you read the 4 Hour Work Week, you'll want to do the same thing.
We didn't do much while we were down there. We drank a lot of tequila and ate a lot of food. We did go shopping and I bought some Gurkha and Cohiba cigars. You have to be sneaky to bring them back in, though I don't think they are the real thing. My wife bought some coffee for my parents, but that was it. It was a great time, and it made me want to go back for more.
