I really had Spore on my top to-buy list, but with EAs latest policy I'll skip. Unless they later patch it to a less intrusive CP method.

The creature creator looks cool though.

It's pretty fun to play around with it. I was already planning on getting the full editor when it came out on the 17th, but this definitely cements it.

Sorry for double-post, but people should really make use of the black background provided in the game and edit their pics with an image app so we don't waste unneccessary forum space.

I really can't wait to see what the gameplay implications are depending on what sort of parts you used on your creature.

So far I haven't read anything about the cost being subtracted from the final game.

Yes, a crack will be out, but by buying the game and then downloading the crack, you do two things:

- support EAs DRM scheme, since obviously people accept it.
- support EAs policy for even more intrusive DRM, since obviously people crack it.

So, no. I'm gone from boycotting EA (buying 2ksports alternatives, not buying Sims2 addons anymore) to actively discouraging friends from buying EA titles.

Why am I not surprised, and annoyed, and yet another reason I avoid this DRM nonsense, restricting myself to non DRM games - and yes I am consistent. The same goes for any other vendor that trys to slip things onto my PC using the freebie method - or any other tactic - that I am not aware of. I take my insignificant miniscule product fee elsewhere.

I would get real Hissed Off if someone sneaked into my house and dumped a marketing leaflet in the hallway, or secretly left an infra-red camera monitoring my movements around the house.

Hands off my PC ..... its not a Vendor Marketing Opportunity, whatever their Bonus driven Marketing Director thinks. I have no issue with them marketing their "goods", its what makes the world turn round, no problem. However to me their credibility goes right out the window when they feel they have to use such methods - use the "letterbox" or "mailbox" (with no embedded hidden feature thank you)like anyone else, so I can see what they are up to.

For me its very simple, both the person who cracks software, and the Marketing Director who puts gizmos on my disk, they are both driven by self interest. A different kind of self interest for sure, but thats what it boils down to - and both know it.

I am just as entitled to keep my privacy, as they expect me to respect others privacy including their own. So get out of my disk, and expect me to get annoyed if they dont.

Cracking software is illegal, abhorrent and shows a total lack of respect - the same kind of respect those who are crackers yell about wanting - for those who made it, putting in time, effort, and at times blood sweat and tears. People dont like that, Vote to change the law. We cant spend our lives picking and chosing what suits us, that insane route is the road to mayhem.

In both cases the all the usual justification(s) that comes forth is Fluff, banal, and utterly transparent for what it is - self-justification with no respect for themselves or the Law, whether its Privacy or Copywrite.

So I take my insignificant product fee elsewhere, even though it will make squat difference to their attitudes. Why? Because I have respect for myself as a human being, even if they dont have respect for themselves.

Nope. It's $10 for the demo + $50 for the actual game. Unless, that is, you buy the demo from Amazon, where they will then give you $5 off Spore when it comes out.

I really hope with the final game that you can choose who you want in your universe. Because i have no intention of having weird and sexual creatures that looks something like in this video.
And i bet its only the beginning...

Here's 2 that I created in a short amount of time using what limited items they gave. Unfortunately, each time I exit the creator these two creatures fail to show back up for editing. Spore seems very buggy in the way it handles creature files. I will be watching for the full game to come out, but I'm not paying $10 for a demo product (the full creator).

It also seems the Spore demo came with some sort of unwelcome security software that was bad enough to trigger a 'malicious software alert' on my development machine so it had to be installed on an alternate. It looks like a brand new version of Securom, which is a shame because this was a deal-breaker when it came to Mass Effect and Bio Shock (both games I want, but won't buy while they have that protection scheme).

WOW ZJBDragon, you really made some good dragons must better then i can do hehe. The Blue dragon looks really cool

But yeah the SCC is abit buggy. Also if you make a 2 headed creature with a head in front and back. Everything on the back side will work really weird and act as it was forward.

Heres one i was fooling with and when it hits, the "back" of the creature will hide his arm into the body since it will hit forward.
