So It's 5:30 am on a Sunday morning. Normally I don't get to sleep in because with 2 kids and church at 9 am....well, it's not a pretty sight if I try to sleep past 7 or 7:30.
You may wonder what I am doing awake...you might even be surprised to learn I haven't gone to bed yet....and I won't An hour of sleep is almost worse than none at all.
What could I possibly have been doing that would encourage me to have an all nighter? (It's not that common for me, I don't even remember the last one...)
Well, I was a very busy girl.
I painted the siding on my addition white with a blue trim. It threatened rain, but I've put it off too long. I thought I might have to stop right after the base coat, but God was nice to me and kept clearing the clouds just as they seemed ready to pop. I managed to get 2 coats on....Wooo Hoooo!
I dug a 3 foot by 6ish foot hole in the ground....half on the inside of my gate, and half on the outside. Due to the crazy landscaping, I had to put a step from the front to the back yard. Texas is rock.....followed by clay....then more rock. The deepest point was almost 10 inches down. most of it was about 6 or 7
I learned a lot from trial and error....and more errors....how to set frames, to include making that freaking step and how to pour concrete to form a perfectly smooth slab. Have you ever seen a path or sidewalk with pebbles embedded in the cement to keep you from slipping? Well, I did that too. It's a sneaky trick....you wait from 3:30 am to about 5 am for the concrete to set just right...and then you hit it with a high powered blast of water. The top skim coat of cement washes away, leaving the aggregate to form the non-skid surface.
After I poured the slab, I cleaned the tools and the wheel barrel and stacked the 2x4s. I moved a bookshelf and went in the attic to figure out how to nail the boards down so I have storage space up there. Finally at 5 am, I sprayed off the cement, took as shower to was the day's grit off and here I am with you.
And this was in addition to making waffles for breakfast, and burning them and making them again.....and going to work at Gold's....and feeding my kids again.....and going to Home Depot....(Which, as Connor claims..."worse than Walmart")
Did I mention that I have been running off brownies and caffeine? Yup, that's right! I have been thoroughly charged up and now can't close my eyes....Although sitting down to write this has made me very sleepy.....
Maybe I will try to catch a few zzzzs before the kids beg for breakfast.
