New user to DesktopX.  v3.5 downloaded via the Stardock website link to Download.com.  Installed it on a secondary machine running XP, to replace Google Gadgets.  Mostly looking for a clock, weather, calender, etc to have on the side of this screen.

It appears to install without issues.  I can fire up a widget and it appears to run.  For example, the Silica Clock and Silica Calender.

But, when I right-click on a widget and choose Properties I get a Windows box that says that it's searching for launcher.exe.  After a few seconds, that changes to a box saying the the program that the shortcut points to may have been moved or deleted.  (I can look up the precise wording, but you should get the idea.)  Clicking on "No, I don't want to delete the shortcut" brings up the Widget Options dialog as described in the documentation.

Changing any of the properties and then clicking "OK" brings up the launcher search, again.  The values seem to be getting saved.

Are there any widget-specific properties?  For example, on the clock widget, choosing a style, or resizing?  Or, the picture frame widget, changing the picture?  Or, are these just simple example widgets, and I need to download more capable widgets?

I guess it actually seems to be working.  The launcher thing just makes me a little nervous that something isn't configured correctly.  And, it's annoying to have pop up every time.

I've tried rebooting.  Uninstalling and reinstalling.  Re-downloaded the setup app.

Anyone have any other suggestions?

Thanks,

Drake

Bump

I'm really the only person seeing this?

Does anyone have any ideas?

This machine is fairly plain-vanilla.  It was a machine bought from a company, therefore has a fresh install of XP.  It went through one person before me, but the only things she installed were Sims 2 and a couple of other games.  I'm not certain, but I think EA used the name Launcher.exe for their game?  Could that be the conflict?  Except, it was giving the same behavior prior to me uninstalling the game.

Can a Stardock representative help me?  Or, should I be going straight to support?

Drake
