I've been feeling pretty domestic this week. I've made banana bread (because I had near rotten bananas), bourbon yams (for a Company holiday party) and cookies (because my sons are here). These are all things I'm pretty familiar with making now... so come January I'll need to branch out. Heck, I've almost gotten these recipes memorized I do them enough.

And I'm not even counting dinners, grilling meat or making casseroles. I do need to whip something up in my underused crock pot soon...

You should definitely branch out into some main course stuff. I really enjoy cooking and it sounds like you do as well. It can be a lot of fun and the best part is you get to eat your work.

I made pulled pork in my crockpot last week, and I'm making a beef stew in it today.  I highly recommend the pulled pork - you take a relatively cheap pork roast (I paid $4 for the one I used) throw in in the crockpot with a bit of water and some slices of onion, set it on low and then leave it alone.  An hour or so before you want to eat it you take it out, pull it apart with a couple of forks so it's really nicely shredded, then put it back in to crockpot with a bottle (perhaps 2) of bbq sauce (I used a honey and mesquite one) and let the sauce cook into the meat.  I served it with fresh kaiser rolls and some coleslaw, and it was G-O-O-D.  Matter of fact, I'm serving that when my in-laws come for a visit next weekend.

Happy cooking!

I can't recommend deer heart in the crockpot, Arquonzo and I tried that and left it to cook while we were at the mission. 10 hours later and we could smell it from the parking lot. I wish I had been able to put on my Pro-mask to throw the wretched thing out.

I need to start trying some new recipes. I tend to get in a rut where I make the same things all the time. I get tired of it. I do want to do some Christmas baking. It's rolling right around on me.
